Reading Hospital held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday, October 14, 2026, for the new John and MaryAnne Post Center for Emergency Care in West Reading.
The 20,000-square-foot expansion will include additional treatment beds, a rapid treatment area, an on-site pharmacy, and expanded waiting areas designed to improve patient care and reduce wait times. The project is expected to be completed in 2028.
The expansion is made possible through a significant contribution from the Post Family Foundation and is part of Reading Hospital's broader $70 million fundraising campaign.
The ceremony featured remarks from Reading Hospital President and CEO Charles Barbera, Dr. Brian Lehman, Reading Hospital Foundation President Katherine Thornton, John Post Jr., and Tower Health President and CEO Michael Stern.
Following the ceremony, Barbera and Post Jr. spoke about the project's significance, planned improvements, and the Post family's longstanding connection to Reading Hospital.
