The gateway into West Reading is set to receive a makeover as improvements begin on a prominent railroad bridge in the borough.
According to borough officials, the Norfolk Southern bridge at Penn Avenue and Second Avenue will be power-washed and repainted starting Monday, April 27, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.
Motorists should use caution when traveling through the area, as lane closures and delays are expected in both directions between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The project is expected to take about two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
The work is being funded through a grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority Local Share Account.
