Demolition complete at 431 and 433 Penn Street

What once stood as part of downtown Reading’s historic streetscape is now reduced to rubble, with debris spilling into the sidewalk area of the work. The City moved forward with the emergency demolition this week due to serious structural concerns, citing public safety as the top priority. Crews successfully preserved the iconic “Reading News” sign from the 431 Penn Street façade, which will be stored for potential future use.
