In the spirit of holiday generosity, the Exeter Township Fire Department successfully hosted its annual “Shop with a Firefighter” event on Tuesday, bringing joy to children from the local community.

The event, a cherished tradition for the fire department, began at the Exeter Township Fire Station in Reiffton. Twenty eager children were paired with enthusiastic firefighters and embarked on a festive journey aboard fire engines, making their way to Boscov’s in Exeter.

Upon arrival at Boscov’s, the children were handed $100 gift cards, transforming the department store into a winter wonderland for their holiday shopping adventure. The young shoppers seized the opportunity to select special Christmas gifts for their family members, spreading the joy of the season.

Deputy Chief Chris Jordan expressed the significance of the event, stating, “This is one of the events our members look forward to all year. It is an opportunity to get out and interact with the public in a positive light.”

Jordan says the department receives donations to fund ten of the gift cards, with the remainder being generously matched by Boscov’s.

The event not only provided a memorable experience for the children but also allowed the firefighters to connect with the community in a heartwarming and festive atmosphere.

The highlight of the evening was a chance for the kids to share their Christmas wishes with none other than Santa Claus himself. Laughter and excitement echoed through the store as the young shoppers had the unique opportunity to engage with the jolly figure of the season.

As the event concluded, the Exeter Township Fire Department reflected on the success of yet another “Shop with a Firefighter” gathering, embodying the true spirit of community and holiday cheer.
