Meet the family behind Healing Hearts Home Care: A beacon of dignity in elderly care

One of the most common–and painful–questions facing many families is also one that requires the most delicacy: how do you provide the best care for aging family members? While there are many options from which discerning families can choose, Healing Hearts Home Care stands out from the rest.

Tracey Anastasio, owner and CEO of Healing Hearts Home Care, shared that she and her dedicated staff work hard to ensure and preserve the dignity of their clients through every step of the process. “We provide fully-customizable, non-medical home care services to help our clients complete the skills required for their basic daily needs (hygiene assistance, light cleaning, meal planning and prepping, shopping, etc.). Our goal is to keep our clients as independent as possible–we don’t want to take over, we want our clients to participate as much as possible when independence is still the goal.”

She also shared that Healing Hearts provides compassionate dementia, hospice assistance/supplement, and end-of-life services, which can also be customized completely to fit the needs of clients and their families. In the future, Ms. Anastasio has a goal that Healing Hearts will be the frontrunners of informed, educated dementia care in Berks County. “We have lots of experience and background to help families goal-set [for their loved ones]; lots of compassion,” she said.

Healing Hearts is comprised of a small staff that doesn’t just feel like family, it is one: Ms. Anastasio’s daughter, Erika Martorell (RN), serves as the Director of Operations for the business (the team also includes Joanne Eckert, the Care Coordinator, as well as a staff of dedicated care providers).

“We are a family owned and operated company, and we are very family-focused, even for our care providers,” said Ms. Anastasio. “Being a care provider can be mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausting. We want [our staff] to not feel overworked; to focus on their families,” she said.

The public is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Healing Hearts Home Care’s office, located at 833 N. Park Rd. Suite 106 Wyomissing, PA 19610 on Saturday, October 28.

“We will have face painting, pumpkin painting, raffles, speakers, and more,” she shared, noting that the event will run from 12-3 PM, with the ribbon-cutting scheduled for 1:30, and that small businesses and first responders will be in attendance.

Ms. Anastasio also shared that her biggest message to the community is this: don’t wait to figure out homecare solutions for your loved ones. “The sooner you line up homecare [for relatives in need of it], the better it will be to reduce the risk of potential injuries and disease progression, as well as enabling a continued joyful, more independent life,” she said.
