Veterans Coalition of Pennsylvania
The Veterans Coalition of Pennsylvania is expanding its efforts to support local veterans with transportation, food, clothing, household necessities and other assistance. Michael Weil, the coalition’s director of daily operations, says his own struggles after military service have shaped a mission focused on reaching veterans before they reach a point of crisis. VCOP is also preparing for its annual Save 22 event in September, featuring a display of 660 American flags to raise awareness of veteran suicide. We spoke with Weil about the growing demand for services, the veterans who return to volunteer after receiving help, and his vision for expanding the organization’s reach across Pennsylvania.
