Wildfire Smoke
Smoke filled the skies over Reading early Thursday evening as wildfire smoke blanketed Berks County, creating hazy conditions across the region. A statewide Code Red Air Quality Alert remained in effect Thursday due to elevated levels of fine particulate matter. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has also issued a Code Purple Air Quality Alert for Friday, with air quality expected to worsen.
