Police pursue stolen vehicle from Wyomissing into Reading

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after a stolen vehicle fled from troopers early Saturday morning, leading to a pursuit from Wyomissing through West Reading and into Reading.

According to PSP Reading, troopers attempted to stop a vehicle that was allegedly being driven recklessly in the area of the 1100 block of Parkside Drive in Wyomissing Borough at approximately 1:22 a.m. on October 3.

Police identified the vehicle as a blue 2004 Toyota RAV4 with Pennsylvania registration NCH2675. State Police said the vehicle had been confirmed stolen from the Laureldale Borough area.

Troopers activated their emergency lights and sirens, but the driver failed to stop and a pursuit began, according to police. The vehicle traveled at a high rate of speed east through West Reading before crossing the Buttonwood Bridge into Reading.

Police said the pursuit ended after the stolen vehicle traveled into a wooded area near Green and Tulpehocken streets in Reading.

State Police and Reading Police searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle or its occupants.

According to State Police, the occupants of the stolen vehicle are suspected to be armed.

The investigation remains ongoing.
