The Wyomissing Public Library will transform into a 1920s-style speakeasy later this month for a fundraising event designed to support the library’s programs and services.

“Roaring Stacks: A Speakeasy Soirée at the Library” will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the library, located at 9 Reading Blvd. in Wyomissing.

The Prohibition-era themed evening will feature live jazz music, signature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and a darts challenge with Mark Twain, along with other activities. Organizers will transform the historic library building into a 1920s-inspired venue for the event.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will directly benefit the Wyomissing Public Library’s programs and community resources, including early literacy initiatives, digital access services, and public programming that serves thousands of area residents each year.

Tickets are $100 per person, and attendance is limited to 160 guests. Organizers encourage attendees to wear 1920s-inspired attire, although costumes are not required.

Tickets are available through Friday, Aug. 28, or until the event sells out. Organizers said physical tickets will not be issued, and attendees’ names will instead be placed on the event guest list.

More information about the event is available on the Wyomissing Public Library’s Roaring Stacks event page. Tickets can be purchased through the library’s online ticket page.

Founded in 1913, the Wyomissing Public Library’s mission is to inspire learning, expand opportunity, and strengthen community by providing information services and innovative programming for area residents.
