Utility work, crack sealing, shoulder widening: PennDOT upcoming roadwork July 5, 2026

Motorists in Berks County should expect several roadway work zones this week as PennDOT and a local utility complete maintenance and infrastructure projects. The work will include crack sealing, shoulder widening, and waterline installation, with daytime lane restrictions and flagging planned at several locations throughout the county.

Hereford Township: Utility work will take place on PA 29 between PA 100 and the Montgomery County line from Tuesday, July 7, through Friday, July 31. A local utility will install a waterline, resulting in daytime lane restrictions with flagging between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day. Rain is not expected to delay the work.

Bern and Muhlenberg townships: PennDOT maintenance crews will perform crack sealing on US 222 between PA 61 and Spring Ridge Drive from Monday, July 6, through Friday, July 10. Daytime lane restrictions will be in place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. as crews move through the work zone. Motorists should expect delays, use caution, and be aware that rain may delay the project.

Tulpehocken Township: PennDOT maintenance crews will conduct shoulder widening work on PA 419 between the Lancaster County line and Rehresburg Road on Monday, July 6, and Tuesday, July 7. Lane restrictions with flagging will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should expect delays and use caution while traveling through the work zone. Rain may delay the work.

Bethel Township: PennDOT maintenance crews will perform shoulder widening work on PA 501 between the Lebanon County line and the Schuylkill County line on Wednesday, July 8, and Thursday, July 9. Lane restrictions with flagging will be in place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Drivers should expect delays and use caution in the work zone. Rain may delay the project.

Bethel Township: PennDOT maintenance crews will complete shoulder widening work on PA 645 (Camp Swatara Road) between the Lebanon County line and the Schuylkill County line on Friday, July 10. Lane restrictions with flagging will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should expect delays and use caution while traveling through the area. Rain may delay the work.
