A Pennsylvania Lottery retailer in Berks County recently sold a winning $10,000 a Month for Life Scratch-Off ticket, according to lottery officials.

The winning ticket was sold at Star Gas & Diesel, located at 8558 Lancaster Avenue in Bethel Township. The retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The Pennsylvania Lottery did not disclose whether the winner selected the game’s top prize of $10,000 per month for life or the available cash option, valued at $1.6 million before applicable withholding.

The $10,000 a Month for Life Scratch-Off is a $5 game offered by the Pennsylvania Lottery. Lottery officials noted that Scratch-Off tickets are distributed randomly, meaning neither the Lottery nor retailers know where winning tickets will be sold. The Lottery only learns where a winning ticket was purchased after a prize has been claimed.

Lottery officials reminded players that Scratch-Off prizes expire one year after a game’s end-sale date. Winners are encouraged to sign the back of their ticket immediately and contact the Pennsylvania Lottery to begin the claims process.

All Pennsylvania Lottery prizes exceeding $5,000 are subject to applicable state and federal withholding requirements.
