Berks County Master Gardener hotline now open for 2026 season

May 23, 2026 - 08:05 PM - Berks Weekly

The gardening season is underway in Berks County, and local residents once again have access to free gardening advice through the Berks County Master Gardener hotline.

The hotline, operated by Penn State Extension Master Gardener volunteers, is now open and will remain available through the end of September to assist home gardeners with questions and plant-related concerns.

The service operates Monday through Friday with varying hours beginning at 9 a.m. from the Penn State Extension office at the Berks County Agricultural Center, located at 1238 County Welfare Road in Leesport.

Home gardeners can stop by the office or call 610-378-1327 to speak with a Master Gardener volunteer. Questions can also be submitted by email to berksmg@psu.edu.

According to Penn State Extension, gardeners are encouraged to provide samples or photos of plants, insects, or garden issues when seeking assistance. Volunteers use the information to help identify problems, diagnose issues, and provide recommendations.

If volunteers do not immediately know the answer, they will research the issue and follow up with reliable information.

Soil testing kits are also available for purchase at the office for $10.
