A 38-year-old woman has died following a motor vehicle crash that occurred earlier this week in the City of Reading, according to the Berks County Coroner’s Office.
Berks County Coroner Matthew J. Stitzel said the office was notified at 9:52 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, by physicians at Tower Health/Reading Hospital that the victim had been pronounced deceased at 9:46 a.m.
The victim was identified as Elisa L. Plancarte, 38, of Maidencreek Township.
According to the coroner, Plancarte had been transported to the hospital by Reading EMS after a crash that occurred Sunday, April 26, at approximately 2:10 a.m. The vehicle struck a building at 1820 Hampden Blvd., between Bern Street and College Avenue.
Plancarte was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash and became entrapped in the wreckage. She was extricated by the Reading Fire Department before being transported for medical treatment.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, April 30, at 9 a.m. at Tower Health/Reading Hospital. The examination will be performed by forensic pathologist Dr. Neil Hoffman to determine the cause and manner of death.
The Berks County Coroner’s Office is being assisted in the investigation by the Reading Police Department.
