Reading police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Reading.
According to the Reading Police Department, officers were dispatched to the hotel at 701 Penn Street around 12:52 a.m. on April 5, 2026, for a reported shooting.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male with a gunshot wound in a first-floor hallway. The victim was transported by Reading Fire Department EMS to Reading Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said an adult male was taken into custody at the scene. No additional details about the individuals involved have been released.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Reading Mayor Eddie Morán issued a statement following the incident.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family during this difficult time. This was a tragic and isolated incident and does not reflect the safe environment and strong service the DoubleTree consistently provides. Our focus remains on the safety of our community,” Morán said.
Police said no additional information is being released at this time.
