Update – 2/17/26: The Berks County Coroner’s Office released the following information Tuesday: The victim, identified as 76-year-old Ann D. Arena of Caernarvon Township, was walking across the lot with another woman when both were struck. Arena was transported to the emergency department at Reading Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma. The manner of death has been ruled accidental.
Original post: A woman was killed Monday afternoon after being struck by a pickup truck in the parking lot of Boscov’s in Exeter Township, according to police.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. Feb. 16 at the store located at 4500 Perkiomen Avenue. Exeter Township Police said officers were dispatched to the parking lot for a reported vehicle crash involving pedestrians.
Upon arrival, officers determined that two adult female pedestrians were crossing the parking lot when they were struck by a pickup truck that was turning into a travel lane in front of the store.
Both pedestrians were injured and transported for medical treatment. Police said one of the women later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigators.
The Exeter Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
