The Wyomissing Police Department announced Friday that the second suspect wanted in connection with the August 12 shooting near The Works has turned himself in to authorities.
Police said 15-year-old Ethan S. Gonzalez surrendered on September 12 and was taken into custody. Gonzalez has been charged with criminal attempt murder, aggravated and simple assault, firearms violations, recklessly endangering another person, and criminal conspiracy. He has been arraigned, bail was denied, and he is currently awaiting an “Interest of Justice Hearing” in Berks County Court of Common Pleas.
Earlier this month, 15-year-old Ethan Z. Arce, also surrendered and was committed to Berks County Prison on $75,000 bail. Both teens were charged as adults due to the seriousness of the crime.
The charges stem from a shooting that injured a juvenile male near Bern Road last month. Police said the victim had just left The Works with two friends when he was approached by the suspects. An altercation followed, during which the victim was shot in the leg. He was transported to Reading Hospital and is expected to recover.
Wyomissing Police thanked the community for its assistance throughout the investigation.
