The Pennsylvania State Police at Troop L, Hamburg, released results from a recent DUI enforcement effort conducted over the weekend. The initiative, which included a sobriety checkpoint, was part of the department’s ongoing commitment to reducing alcohol-related crashes across the Commonwealth.
According to a statement from Sgt. Cory S. Mengel, station commander, the increased patrols were aimed at identifying drivers operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Troopers made contact with 65 motorists during the enforcement period.
As a result of the patrols, state police reported the following enforcement actions:
- 3 DUI arrests (alcohol and/or drugs)
- 1 drug possession/paraphernalia arrest
- 0 underage drinking arrests
- 7 traffic citations issued
- 23 traffic warnings issued
- 0 warrants served
“The Pennsylvania State Police remains committed to making the Commonwealth a safer place to travel,” the release stated, noting the importance of proactive efforts like sobriety checkpoints in preventing crashes and saving lives.
