The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has posted an updated list of recent Retail Food Inspection Reports for restaurants and food handlers in Berks County. Inspections are a “snapshot” of the day and time of the inspection. Violations are recorded but are often corrected on the spot prior to the inspector leaving the facility. On June 25, 2025, Shucos Juanita’s, located at 49 S 9th St, Reading, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Potentially hazardous ready-to-eat food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 48 hours, located in the refrigerator, is not being date marked. Cooked Food in the refrigerator area stored open with no covering. Mops are not being hung to air dry. Overserved food stored chicken stored on top of beef and pork cross contamination.

On June 25, 2025, Hollywood Casino Morgantown – Bar 76, located at 6021 Morgantown Road, Morgantown, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food employees observed on cookline area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Corrected.
On June 25, 2025, El Ana Fe, located at 1034 Penn St, Reading, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Mops are not being hung to air dry. Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the serving area. Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the serving area. Food Employees eating in food prep area as evidenced by observed partially consumed food in the food prep area. Prepped Food in the bain marie area stored open with no covering. Observed beef and chicken on top of another causing cross contamination. On June 25, 2025, Dairy Queen #10296, located at 4399 Penn Ave, Reading, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: No sign or poster posted at the handwash sink in the unisex restroom to remind food employees to wash their hands. Corrected.
On June 25, 2025, Camp Manatawny, located at 33 Camp Rd, Douglassville, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Observed deeply three scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. Corrected. Observed a buildup of apparent mold on the nonfood contact surface of the soda dispensing machine in the dining hall. Observed a buildup of apparent dust and mold on the fan cover of the cooling unit in the walk-in cooler.
On June 25, 2025, Blackwood Golf Course, located at 510 Red Corner Rd, Douglassville, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Observed an apparent mold build up on the nonfood contact surfaces of the ice machine. Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – observed leaking at the faucet connection of 3 bay sink in the service area.
On June 25, 2025, 7-Eleven, located at 1658 Perkiomen Ave, Reading, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Mops are not being hung to air dry.
On June 26, 2025, Sammy’s Steaks & Fries #6 (XHH6048) MFF3, located at 410 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Two of the light bulbs are missing end caps.
On June 26, 2025, Letterman’s Diner, located at 242 W Main St, Kutztown, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Shelf below griddle was not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of food debris. Cases of single-service, single-use articles stored in dry storage/basement area directly on the floor, and not 6 inches above the floor. Corrected. Potato dicer, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Corrected.
On June 26, 2025, Golden Bowl, located at 850 Penn St, Reading, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Potentially hazardous ready-to-eat food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 48 hours, located in the walk-in refrigerator, is not being date marked. Observed prepped food stored directly on the floor in walk-in cooler area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required.
On June 27, 2025, Wyomissing Sunoco, located at 3100 State Hill Rd, Wyomissing, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate control of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. Observed 1 quart and 2 half gallons of milk offered for sale beyond the sell-by dates (5/30/25, 6/6/25, & 6/18/25). Corrected. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Soda dispensers and creamer dispensers, food contact surfaces, were observed to have dried food residue and were not clean to sight and touch. Observed old food debris and residue on the interior surface of the single door Turbo Air refrigerator in the back storage area. There is an accumulation of dirt/debris on the floor under shelving in the back storage area. Two of the bowls in the 3-compartment sink have a significant amount of dried debris/residue. Observed an accumulation of dirty liquid and dead insects in the catch tray at the creamer dispensing unit. Corrected. Plastic and paper food boats at the hot dog area not stored inverted to protect the food contact surface. Corrected. Food facility does not employ a certified food employee as required. Women’s/unisex restroom is not provided with a covered waste receptacle. Soap was not available at two of the handwash sinks in the back employee areas. Corrected. Mops are not being hung to air dry. Observed mop sitting a bucket of dirty water. No mop hanger available.
On June 27, 2025, Tosco Pizza Parlor, located at 2601 Penn Ave, Reading, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Cake slices, a refrigerated ready-to-eat time/temperature control for safety food, repackaged by the food facility, was not being datemarked. Can opener and slicer, food contact surfaces, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
On June 27, 2025, Subway #10484, located at 2677 Shillington Rd, Sinking Spring, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Interior of the ice machine, a food contact surface, was observed to have black slime residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
On June 27, 2025, Philly Soft Pretzel Factory #153, located at 2850 Penn Ave, West Lawn, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Dough mixer, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue on the mixing blade and was not clean to sight and touch.
On June 27, 2025, Oley Ravioli, located at 740 Noble St, Kutztown, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Exterior door located in the retail area of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals.
On June 27, 2025, Dream Garden, located at 3564 Penn Ave Ste 2, Sinking Spring, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Container of chicken observed being cooled in the 3-bay ware washing sink rather than the appropriate food prep sink. Residue observed on interior surfaces of the oven. Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the restroom area.
On June 30, 2025, Shillington Swimming Pool, located at 999 E Broad St, Reading, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Severely dented, swollen, distressed canned items observed in the dry storage area are and intended for use or sale in the food facility. Corrected. Multiple foods were held at 46.2°F, in the front refrigerator, rather than 41°F or below as required. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer.
On June 30, 2025, Red Plate Diner, located at 440 E Penn Ave, Wernersville, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Assorted food was items held at 49 °F, in the cookline area, rather than 41°F or below as required. Corrected manager on duty directed them to throw away the food due to unknown time out of temperature. Unit is due to be replaced. Observed frozen reduced oxygen packaged fish without a label indicating that it is to be kept frozen until time of use. Fish needs to be removed from ROP packaging before thawing. Corrected thawed fish in ROP packaging was discarded.
On June 30, 2025, Juice Mee MFF3, located at 2230 Monroe Ave, Reading, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food facility has an employee that has taken food safety training program; however, the food safety program was not an ANSI/CFP accredited Certified Food Manager program.
On June 30, 2025, Fiesta Charra, LLC, located at 4531 Kutztown Rd, Temple, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food dispensing utensil in dry good bulk food bins observed stored in the food and not with handle above the top of the food. Corrected on inspection.
On June 30, 2025, Bern Township Lions Pool, located at 1020 Rebers Bridge Rd, Leesport, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: The facility is listed as out of compliance. The food facility no longer has a handwash sink located in the snack bar. The handwash sink has been removed. Working containers of cleaner / sanitizer were stored on the same shelf with drinks in the snack bar area. Corrected.
On July 1, 2025, Vintner’s Table, located at 945 Hill Ave Ste 100, Wyomissing, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration at the glasswashers.
On July 1, 2025, Stouch Tavern, located at 138 W High St, Womelsdorf, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Chlorine chemical sanitizer residual detected in the final sanitizer rinse cycle of the low temperature sanitizing dishwasher was 0 ppm, and not 50-100 ppm as required.
On July 1, 2025, Schaylor Brewing Company, located at 2390 Lancaster Ave, Reading, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food Employee is not using available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine sanitizer concentration. Observed deeply two scored cutting boards on the Bain Marie’s not resurfaced or discarded as required. Old food residue, dishes and utensils observed in the handwash sink, indicating uses other than handwashing. Corrected. Floor in the kitchen area, is made of concrete, and is not durable, smooth, non-porous, non-absorbent.
On July 1, 2025, Josh’s Pizza Zone, located at 51 E 2nd St, Boyertown, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food, located in the Bain Maries, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. Light is not shielded or shatter proof over the prep, dishwashing, and the pizza oven area. Exhaust vents located throughout the facility are dirty and can potentially contaminate food and equipment. Observed a large amount of grease build-up on the walls, floors, the fryer, grill, and the ventilation hood of the cookline area.
On July 1, 2025, Gianna’s Pizzeria, located at 1500 New Holland Rd E3, Reading, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Multiple foods were held at 51°F, in the Bain Marie area, rather than 41°F or below as required. Observed multiple foods held at 44°F in the walk-in cooler. Observed deeply scored on the Bain Maire cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. Observed the nonfood contact surfaces of the large mixer in the back prep area to have a buildup of old food residue. The food facility does not have the original certificate for the certified food employee posted in public view. Corrected. Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – observed the cold water handle leaking at the 3-bay sink. Corrected. Floor in the back prep area is cracked / roughened / and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Back door located in the back area of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals.
On July 1, 2025, Domino’s Pizza 58203100, located at 310 Penn St, Reading, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Leaky 3 basin sink faucet.
On July 1, 2025, Charlotte Street Coffee Company, located at 30 N Philadelphia Ave, Boyertown, PA, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food Employee observed changing tasks that may have contaminated hands without a proper handwash in-between. Food employees observed in the prep/counter area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, or hats.
