Animal Rescue League launches emergency campaign to replace critical X-ray machine

The Animal Rescue League of Berks County (ARL) has launched an emergency fundraising campaign to raise $30,000 for the replacement of its critical X-ray machine, which no longer passes inspection. Without it, the shelter’s ability to diagnose and treat injured or sick animals is significantly limited.

The ARL is seeking to replace the unit with a mobile X-ray machine, allowing the medical team to continue delivering rapid diagnostics and treatment with greater flexibility and efficiency. To support this effort, a generous donor has pledged to match the first $13,000 in donations, doubling the impact of early gifts.

“Since installing our current unit in early 2021, we’ve performed x-rays on 1,298 animals, saving more than $645,000 in outside diagnostic costs,” said Stacey Cole, ARL’s Chief Development Officer. “Without it, we’d face not only significant financial strain, but also the heartbreaking risk of missing the window to save an animal’s life.”

The public can contribute to this lifesaving campaign by donating at www.berksarl.org/xray or by sending their contribution to 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508.
