The Berks County District Attorney’s Office, following complaints from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, identified and charged 34-year-old Daniel J. Huber of Abington, Maryland with Sexual Abuse of Children – Dissemination of Child Pornography, and related charges, after detectives say a search of his residence and cell phone uncovered explicit digital files.

The Berks County Detective’s Office initiated a criminal investigation after receiving a complaint from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, involving digital files of suspected Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) that had been uploaded and shared utilizing the internet/web application ‘KIK Messenger’. Upon initiating this investigation, five additional complaints were received from NCMEC for similar file sharing incidents.

As part of this investigation, investigators identified the Internet Protocol (IP) Address utilized to upload these files. An administrative subpoena was served upon the internet service provider and the IP address was linked to the defendant.

Members of the Berks County Detectives executed a search warrant at the defendant’s residence located in Muhlenberg Township, Berks County. Two cellular telephones were seized during this search.

The defendant was interviewed by members of the Berks County Detectives and admitted to possessing CSAM and participating in CSAM file sharing activity.

As a result of a forensic analysis conducted on the defendant’s cellular telephone by the Berks County District Attorney’s Forensic Services Unit, CSAM was located on one of the defendant’s cellular telephones.

On Monday, June 16, 2025, the Defendant was charged with Sexual Abuse of Children – Dissemination of Child Pornography and Sexual Abuse of Children – Possession of Child Pornography, and Criminal Use of a Communications Facility.

On Thursday, June 26, 2025, the Defendant surrendered to members of the Berks County Detectives. The defendant was transported to the Central Processing Center located at the Berks County Courthousewhere he was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a criminal complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
