Local student performer selected to perform at Carnegie Hall

Owen Kueny-Rongione, a student at Governor Mifflin Middle School has been selected for the Middle School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall. Owen will perform in June with the Honors Junior Choir. Participation in the Honors Ensembles is limited to the highest-rated young performers from across the world.

Owen auditioned for the Honors Performance Series and was recently accepted after a review by the Honors Selection Board. Acceptance to the elite group is a direct result of the talent, dedication, and achievements demonstrated in the application and audition recording.

Owen has dedicated six years to studying music and has been an active member of several audition ensembles, including the Governor Mifflin Intermediate School Select Chorus, Jazz Band, and the Governor Mifflin Middle School Show Choir. Owen has performed in multiple community theaters including Genesius Theatre, Reading Civic Theatre, Yocum Institute, and Steel River Playhouse.

In response to their selection, Owen said “This is an opportunity of a lifetime, I am excited to experience this with my fellow musicians at Carnegie Hall this summer. I am so thankful for the support of my family and my music teachers, especially Sanna Wooten and Jennifer Scott.”

Owen will join performers from the United States, Canada and Guam for a special performance at the world-famous Carnegie Hall, a venue that marks the pinnacle of musical achievement. The finalists will come together in New York City where they will have the opportunity to learn from world-renowned conductors, work with other performers and experience the city. The Honors Performance will take place Friday, June 27th, 2025. Tickets can be purchased prior to the performance through the Carnegie Hall box office.
