Philip Courtney, Assistant Vice President, Compliance Manager and Loan Administration Manager of Fleetwood Bank, recently graduated from the Paul W. Barret Graduate School of Banking. The graduation ceremony was held at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee on Friday, May 23.
Courtney was one of over 80 banking professionals from across 33 states that graduated from this three-year program offering an advanced graduate-level education. Over the course of the three years, these students received more than 130 hours of class instruction, including a week of in-person class instruction in Memphis each May. These three years of instruction cover everything from Compliance and Operations Management and Cybersecurity, to Asset / Liability Management and Loan Portfolio Management and Risk Management.
Prior to enrolling in this graduate program, Courtney had 14 years of banking experience in his current position and other roles including Deposit Administration Manager, Business Deposit Analyst, Treasury Management, and Branch Manager. “I started this rigorous program in 2023. Three years later, I am walking away a graduate with a solid foundation in every aspect of banking. This experience has shaped me into a well-rounded banking professional, which will ultimately allow me to better serve our customers and community through enhancing the customer experience and providing continued protection against fraud and scams,” reflects Courtney.
Courtney, who celebrated his sixth anniversary with Fleetwood Bank last month, is also a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and a Certified Community Bank Compliance Officer (CCBCO). He was one of 40 individuals across the nation recognized by the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) for “stepping up to lend a hand, offering a new perspective, or making a difference in their communities,” last June as a recipient of the 40 Under 40 Community Bank Leaders Awards.
“Phil’s completion of the Barret Graduate School of Banking is a huge accomplishment, and the Bank is proud to recognize him for his continued steadfast dedication to his career as a community banker,” states Timothy Snyder, CEO and President of Fleetwood Bank. “We all benefit from having Phil part of our organization. He is an innovative strategist, having implemented processes and programs to ensure efficiencies that benefit our customers, team members, and stakeholders. This made it easy to select Phil to be given the opportunity to attend Barret, and we look forward to continuing to offer similar professional development opportunities to our team members in the future.”
