The Berks County Public Libraries System is seeking public input as it begins shaping its next strategic plan. Through October 31, 2025, residents across the county are invited to complete a Community Survey—available both online and in person at local libraries—regardless of whether they currently hold a library card.
“As we enter into the next phase of planning, our department wants to ensure we’re helping address the needs of those in our communities,” said System Administrator Stephanie Williams. “Library service is ever evolving, and we’re prioritizing public input when considering what that service will look like in the coming years.”
The BCPL System has provided centralized services to Berks County’s 19 member libraries and four branches since 1986. Over the years, it has expanded its reach through outreach programs, collaborative partnerships, and innovative service offerings.
Among its recent initiatives, the System has introduced the region’s first Accessibility & Supportive Learning Collection, which includes items such as colorblind glasses and braille books. Other notable projects include the installation of StoryWalks in partnership with the Reading Public Museum and Berks Nature, the creation of the Story Trail exhibit at Berks Heim, and the addition of updated computer software and mobile printing services across its locations. Additionally, BCPL has supported libraries in developing “Library of Things” collections, offering patrons access to items beyond traditional books.
The Community Survey is accessible online at www.berkslibraries.org/survey, and printed copies are available at all 23 library locations throughout the county.
