The Home Health Care Foundation has officially merged with Berks County Community Foundation, transferring $7.3 million in assets to support health-related programs throughout Berks County and surrounding areas.
Originally established in 2019 following the merger of Berks Visiting Nurse Association, the Visiting Nurse Association of Pottstown and Vicinity, and Advantage Home Care with Tower Health, the Home Health Care Foundation has focused on supporting charitable care and wellness initiatives for the community. It became an affiliate of the Community Foundation in 2020, and the full merger solidifies that partnership.
“This mission honors the legacy of the Berks Visiting Nurse Association and its donors,” said Rabbi Brian Michelson, Chair of the Home Health Care Foundation board. “The board of the Home Health Care Foundation has confidence that the Berks County Community Foundation will utilize these funds to enhance healthcare in the Berks County community and support programs that enable individuals to age in place and avoid unnecessary hospitalizations.”
The newly established fund at the Community Foundation will support: Programs and educational activities that promote health and wellness for residents of Berks County and neighboring counties. Services that assist residents in recovering from illness or disability at home. Organizations providing health-related charity care. Preventative healthcare and community health initiatives.
“Our board and staff are delighted to be carrying on the legacy of Berks Visiting Nurses Association,” said Kevin K. Murphy, president of Berks County Community Foundation. “We look forward to continuing to support projects that help our residents remain healthy and active.”
