Families in the Kutztown area are invited to take part in a free community event focused on bicycle safety and fun. The Kutztown Borough Police Department will host its annual Community Bike Rodeo on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Kutztown High School.
The event is designed for children of all ages and aims to teach young riders important safety skills in a hands-on, engaging way. The Bike Rodeo will include a bicycle safety course, free helmet fittings and replacements, basic bike tune-ups, and safety demonstrations. Snacks, games, and giveaways will also be available.
“This is a fun and meaningful way to teach kids how to stay safe while riding,” said Sgt. Walt Skavinsky of the Kutztown Borough Police Department. “We want young riders to build confidence and learn the rules of the road in a supportive, family-friendly environment.”
Children are encouraged to bring their own bikes and helmets if they have them, though helmets will be provided free of charge to those who need one.
The event is open to the public and no registration is required. Families, scout troops, and youth groups are welcome, and volunteers — including Scouts seeking service hours — are encouraged to participate.
For more information or to inquire about volunteering, contact Sgt. Walt Skavinsky at 610-683-3545 or wskavinsky@kutztownpd.org.
