Cumru Township Police conducted a child safety seat check on Monday, May 16, resulting in several violations related to Pennsylvania’s child passenger safety laws. Officers stopped 97 vehicles during the operation, which led to nine citations and two warnings issued for improper or missing child safety seats.

Under Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, children under the age of 2 are required to ride in a rear-facing child safety seat. Children under 4 must be secured in an appropriate child safety seat, and those under 8 must use a booster seat.

Police encourage residents to ensure they are following the law and keeping their children safe. Parents and guardians interested in having their child safety seats inspected or installed properly can schedule an appointment by emailing traffic@cumrutownship.org.

“Drive safe,” the department reminded in a statement following the check.
