May 19, 2025 - 07:35 PM - Berks Weekly

The Reading Public Museum will open its doors to nostalgia and fun this summer with the arrival of Toytopia, an interactive exhibition celebrating the history of toys and games. The exhibition will run from June 14 through September 7, 2025, in the Museum’s Temporary Exhibition Galleries.

Designed to appeal to both children and adults, Toytopia showcases iconic toys from the early 1900s through the 2000s, including familiar favorites like Atari, Lincoln Logs, Erector Sets, and classic board games. The exhibit spans more than 5,000 square feet and offers hands-on activities, trivia, and videos that highlight the evolution of toys, electronic gaming, and toy collecting.

Visitors can explore displays from well-known toymakers such as Hasbro, Crayola, Duncan Yo-Yo, Breyer, Schleich, and KNEX. Highlights of the exhibition include the world’s largest Etch-A-Sketch, oversized versions of Battleship and Connect 4, a LEGO brick play area and wall, and a retro 1980s arcade with full-size cabinet video games. Additional attractions include a giant floor piano, a Zoltar fortune teller, and a station for creating stop-motion animation.
