In honor of National Foster Care Month, CHOR Youth & Family Services hosted the “Together We Foster” Meet-and-Greet Brunch Thursday at Crossroads Family Restaurant in Muhlenberg Township. The event brought together current foster families, individuals in the process of becoming certified, and community supporters to celebrate the power of fostering and raise awareness about the ongoing need for foster parents.
State Representative David Zimmerman and State Senator Judy Schwank were in attendance, showing their support and appreciation for the vital role foster families play in the lives of children across Berks County. Their presence underscored the importance of community and legislative backing in strengthening the foster care system.
Guests enjoyed a warm and welcoming atmosphere while sharing brunch, connecting with CHOR staff, and hearing powerful stories from foster parents. The event created space for meaningful conversations and encouraged attendees to explore how they could make a difference in a child’s life through fostering.
With more than 15,000 children currently in Pennsylvania’s foster care system, the need for safe, supportive homes remains critical. This special gathering served as both a celebration of those already involved and a call to action for others to join the journey of foster care.
