The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has posted an updated list of recent Retail Food Inspection Reports for restaurants and food handlers in Berks County. Inspections are a “snapshot” of the day and time of the inspection. Violations are recorded but are often corrected on the spot prior to the inspector leaving the facility. On April 18, 2025, Kinya Ramen, located at 951 Hill Ave, Ste 2, Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food items observed thawing at room temperature in the kitchen, which is not an approved thawing method. Corrected. The handwash sink in the front and kitchen areas were blocked by dishes and were not accessible at all times for employee use. Corrected. Bulk food ingredient storage bins, in the dry storage area, are not labeled with the common name of the food. Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – part of the drain line for the 2-compartment sink in the kitchen is broken/missing. This is scheduled to be repaired. Observed several food containers stored directly on the floor in the kitchen area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Working containers (spray bottles) of cleaner / sanitizer were stored above and on the same shelf with food and food equipment in the kitchen area. Corrected. The handwash sink in the front area does not have single use towels or air drying device. Corrected.
On April 18, 2025, Carsonia Park Grill & Bar, located at 719 Carsonia Ave, Reading, PA 19606, was inspected and found with the following violations: Working containers (spray bottles) in the bar area, used for storing chemicals, cleaners taken from bulk supplies, were not marked with the common name of the chemical. Corrected.
On April 19, 2025, Wal-Mart Store #2614, located at 5370 Allentown Pike, Temple, PA 19560, was inspected and found with the following violations: Multiple walk-in refrigerators have dusty fan guards. One refrigerator unit has soiled/dusty wall and ceiling above/adjacent to door.
On April 21, 2025, Sicilian Delite Pizzeria & Ristorante, located at 540 E Philadelphia Ave, Boyertown, PA 19512, was inspected and found with the following violations: Tomato sauce, which was cooled, was only reheated to 122°F for hot holding and not 165°F for 15 seconds as required. Food employee observed in the cookline area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Observed open salad dressing and mayonnaise containers, which are Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food, located in the walk-in-cooler, and are being held for more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required.
On April 21, 2025, Holiday Inn Express & Suites, located at 405 N Park Rd, Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violations: The door gaskets on the 2-door milk refrigeration unit in the kitchen have a build-up of black residue. The fans in the kitchen area have an accumulation of dust/dirt. Customer self-service single-use tableware is not displayed in a manner so that only the handles are touched by customers.
On April 22, 2025, My Mangia Mobile MFF3, located at 808 Bramblewood Dr, Douglassville, PA 19518, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration.
Several other restaurants were inspected during this time period with no violations reported: McDonald’s #7970 in Wyomissing, Hazel’s Cafe in Hamburg, Giant Food #6273 in Cumru Township, The Hot Spot in Muhlenberg Township, Sam’s Club #8160 in Temple, Bear Stadium Snack Bar in Boyertown, Governor Mifflin SD Mifflin Park in Shillington, Governor Mifflin SD Intermediate in Shillington, Schuylkill Valley High School in Leesport.
