The Reading Fire Department and Mayor Eddie Morán will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks with a memorial service on Friday, Sept. 11 at 8:43 a.m. at the September 11th Memorial Tree in City Park.
The ceremony will honor all those who lost their lives in the attacks, with special recognition of the 343 New York City firefighters killed in the collapse of the World Trade Center towers.
City Hall and the Pagoda will also be illuminated in red, white and blue in remembrance of the lives lost and in recognition of the strength and unity of the nation.
The memorial is open to the community. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be moved to City Hall Council Chambers. Those unable to attend can watch the ceremony live through the City of Reading’s Facebook page or the Municipal Access Channel.
