The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Warning and Wind Advisory for Berks County. For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 6 AM Saturday to noon Sunday. For the Wind Advisory, from 8 AM to 9 PM Saturday.
For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 degrees below zero expected. For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
High winds potentially leading to power outages combined with extremely cold conditions could be very dangerous! Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. If you do not have heat in your home or lack shelter, you can call 211 for assistance locating appropriate shelter from the cold.
