Swim beach at Blue Marsh Lake closed due to harmful algal bloom

Alert issued: Thursday, July 10 2025 - 07:01 PM

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has closed the Swim Beach at the Dry Brooks Day Use Area at Blue Marsh Lake effective immediately due to the presence of a harmful algal bloom. All visitors are advised to avoid all contact with the lake water until further notice.

The closure is a precautionary measure to protect public health, as toxic algae can pose risks to both humans and pets. Water quality testing is ongoing, and the swim area will remain closed until test results confirm that conditions are safe.
