Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Alert issued: Tuesday, July 8 2025 - 10:56 PM

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southeastern Berks County, northwestern Montgomery County, and northeastern Chester County. The warning is in effect until 5:45 PM this evening.

At 4:54 PM, radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms moving east at 25 mph, stretching from near Birdsboro to near Elverson.

These storms are capable of producing wind gusts up to 70 mph and penny-size hail. Considerable tree damage is expected, and damage to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings is likely.

Areas that may be impacted include Pottstown, Phoenixville, Birdsboro, Collegeville, Royersford, Trappe, East Greenville, Honey Brook, Schwenksville, Elverson, Bally, Bechtelsville, Green Lane, New Morgan, Pughtown, Spring Mount, Glenmoore, Chester Springs, Geryville, and Gilbertsville.

For your safety, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. In addition to hail and damaging winds, these storms are producing frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck—seek shelter indoors immediately.

Heavy rainfall may also lead to flash flooding. Do not attempt to drive through flooded roads. Turn around, don’t drown.
