Flash Flood Warning

Alert issued: Tuesday, July 8 2025 - 10:17 PM

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southern Berks County, in effect until 8:15 PM this evening.

At 4:05 PM, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall across the warned area. Between half an inch and one inch of rain had already fallen, with rainfall rates of 3 to 4 inches per hour expected. An additional 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain is possible.

Flash flooding is either ongoing or expected to begin shortly. This warning includes the potential for flooding of small creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other low-lying or poor drainage areas.

Communities that may be affected include Reading, Wyomissing, Birdsboro, Sinking Spring, Laureldale, Womelsdorf, Wernersville, Robesonia, New Morgan, Spring Ridge, Shillington, and West Reading.

Residents should remain alert and avoid flooded roadways. Remember: turn around, don’t drown. Most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles.
