At approximately 12:10 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the Schuylkill River near the Main Street bridge in Amity Township for a reported water rescue.
Responding units included Stations 6 and 49, marine units from Stations 16 and 25, Montgomery County Boat 69-1, and EMS. Dispatchers reported that a woman had fallen from an inner tube and became stranded on debris near the bridge. She was wearing a life jacket and was being aided by two kayakers who were in the area.
First-arriving crews secured the woman using throw ropes while awaiting marine unit support. Marine 25 and Marine 25-1 launched from the Union Township boat ramp, while Marine 16 and Boat 69-1 entered the water from Ganshahawny Park off Old Philly Pike.
Marine 16 was able to safely retrieve the victim and transport her to the Union Township ramp, where EMS evaluated and released her.
