Flash Flood Warning

Alert issued: Tuesday, July 1 2025 - 10:58 PM

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southeastern Berks County, north central Chester County, and west central Montgomery County. The warning is in effect until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1.

At 4:55 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall across the warned area. Between one and two inches of rain have already fallen, with additional rainfall amounts of up to one inch possible. Flash flooding is either ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Flooding may impact small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other low-lying or poorly drained locations. Areas that may experience flash flooding include Reading, Pottstown, Phoenixville, Wyomissing, Birdsboro, Royersford, Sinking Spring, Laureldale, Wernersville, Elverson, New Morgan, and Cedarville.

Residents are advised to avoid flooded roads and seek higher ground if necessary. The National Weather Service reminds the public: turn around, don’t drown. Most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles.
