The annual Art on the Avenue festival will take place this Saturday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The event will be held along Penn Avenue from 4th to 8th Avenues, including the 00 blocks of North and South 6th and 7th Avenues, as well as Tulpehocken Avenue from Penn Avenue to Court Street.
The West Reading Police Department is reminding the public that parking restrictions will begin at 7:00 AM in the festival area. Temporary “No Parking” signs have been posted 24 to 48 hours in advance. Vehicles parked in restricted areas after 7:00 AM will be subject to ticketing and towing.
To help ensure public safety throughout the event, the West Reading Police Department will have a tent set up near the intersection of South 6th Avenue and Penn Avenue. Officers will be present and available to assist with any concerns or questions during the day.
Vendors and participating businesses are also reminded to check the chalk markings on the street, which indicate the boundaries for each booth. These boundaries are in place to maintain a clear path down the center of Penn Avenue for emergency vehicles. Vendors must also enter at their assigned access point for morning setup, either at North 7th Avenue and Court Street or Court Street at North 4th Avenue. Entry will be denied at any other location once barricades are in place.
The police department encourages all attendees, vendors, and visitors to follow these guidelines to help keep the event safe and accessible for everyone.
