The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 266, in effect until midnight tonight, Friday, May 16, 2025.
While the main watch area includes portions of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and far southeastern Pennsylvania, this does extend into southeastern Berks County.
The primary threats with this system are damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph and isolated large hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter. A cluster of storms is currently moving east from south-central Pennsylvania and Maryland into the region, with conditions favorable for intensification.
Residents in southeastern Berks County should remain alert for the potential of severe thunderstorms through the evening. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means storms capable of producing damaging winds, large hail, and possibly tornadoes are possible.
Stay tuned to local weather alerts and be prepared to take action if warnings are issued.
