Severe thunderstorms swept through Berks County Tuesday afternoon, bringing damaging winds, hail, and scattered reports of structural damage. The National Weather Service recorded a peak gust of 62 mph at Reading Regional Airport, with additional high winds reported across the region, including 52 mph in Hopewell, 50 mph in Lenhartsville, 43 mph in Sinking Spring, and 42 mph in Boyertown.

Emergency crews responded to reports of trees down on roads and homes, as well as structural damage, including a building collapse and a roof blown off. Penny-sized hail was also reported in some areas.
