TRAFFIC & PARKING RESTRICTION ALERT – This Sunday, October 18, 2026, The Friends of Reading Hospital’s annual road run will take place. This year this event consists of a Half Marathon, a 5K race and a 1 mile Fun Walk/Run. The races will be occurring within West Reading and Wyomissing Boroughs and the City of Reading, which will cause roads to be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic or to have an Officer directing traffic. Road closures will begin between at 7:30 AM and should end by noon.
The following roads in will be closed or have temporary restrictions during the event:
- Spruce Street between Park Road South and S 5th Avenue will be closed for the duration of the event.
- Park Road South from Wayne Avenue to Parkside Drive North will be closed for the duration of the event.
- Parkside Drive South from Museum Road to Old Mill Road will be closed for the duration of the event. Officers will be stationed at Parkside Drive South // Museum Road and Parkside Drive South // Wyomissing Blvd to control crossing traffic.
- Reading Blvd east-bound from Cambridge Avenue to Park Road South will be closed for the duration of the event.
- Reading Blvd west-bound will be open to traffic during the event.
- Parkside Drive North from Park Road South to Evans Ave will be closed from 0800 hours to approximately 0900 hours.
- Parkside Drive North from Museum Road to Park Road South will be open during the event.
- Roadways not closed to traffic on the half marathon route will be controlled by law enforcement officers.
The main access route to the Reading Hospital during this event will be via South 5th Avenue.
