A Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for Berks County until 8 PM Tuesday. Heat index values up to 97 expected. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
Record setting high temperatures are quite possible through Tuesday, with maximum heat indices of 95 to near 100 degrees during peak heating through Tuesday afternoon. Given the intensity of this early season stretch of heat and humidity, we are not acclimated to it yet and therefore impacts could be greater if precautions are not taken. Showers and some thunderstorms arrive Wednesday afternoon and evening which will break this early season heat.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
