The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for central Berks County, as well as parts of northwestern Montgomery and north central Chester counties, effective until 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
At 5:44 p.m., radar indicated severe thunderstorms moving southeast at 25 miles per hour along a line from Laureldale to near Adamstown to Brickerville. The storms are capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and quarter-size hail.
Forecasters warn that the storm may cause minor vehicle damage, as well as wind damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines. Affected locations include Reading, Wyomissing, Fleetwood, Laureldale, Wernersville, Bernville, and surrounding areas.
Residents in the warning area are advised to seek shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a building and to remain indoors until the storm passes.
