Extreme Heat Watch Issued for Early Next Week

Alert issued: Friday, June 20 2025 - 03:22 PM

According to the National Weather Service, an Extreme Heat Watch is in effect from Monday morning through Wednesday evening for portions of east central and southeast Pennsylvania (including Berks County).

Heat index values could reach up to 107 degrees, with overnight lows in urban areas remaining near 80. The prolonged heat and humidity may lead to a dangerous cumulative impact on the body, especially with limited overnight relief.

Health officials urge residents to stay hydrated, remain indoors in air-conditioned spaces, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Never leave children or pets in vehicles, as interiors can become deadly within minutes.
