Fire crews responded to a reported structure fire Thursday afternoon at 303 S. 3rd Avenue in West Reading, where smoke was seen coming from the front of a 2-story brick home.
The call came in just before 12:50 p.m., with arriving crews confirming a working fire and smoke showing from the front side of the residence. Firefighters located the source of the blaze in the basement and were able to quickly bring it under control.
The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes. Met-Ed was requested to the scene to address electrical concerns. No injuries have been reported.
