Severe Weather Update for Friday Evening

Alert issued: Friday, May 30 2025 - 06:29 PM

Severe weather is possible in Berks County this evening, with the National Weather Service placing the area in a Level 1 (Marginal Risk) for isolated severe thunderstorms. The primary threats include damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail. While the highest risk for severe storms is farther south and east, particularly in southeast Pennsylvania and the Delmarva region, Berks County could still see storm activity depending on the northward movement of a warm front.

The timing for potential thunderstorms is between 5 PM and 11 PM Friday. Storm strength will depend on how far north the warm front advances during the evening.

In addition, a Flood Watch is in effect for Berks County from 7 PM tonight through 8 AM Saturday. Forecasters expect rainfall totals between 1 to 3 inches, with localized downpours exceeding 1 inch per hour. This could lead to ponding on roads, impassable areas, and potential stream or creek overflows.
